Spa Six Hours – Qualifying

21st September 2012

The MRM run Jaguar E Type Low Drag that Peter is sharing with owner Martin Melling and Rob Hall qualified a strong 20th overall out of a 115 car field in this evenings session.

This is the teams second attempt at what Autosport magazine describe as the most ‘important historic motorsport race in the world’. Last years debut attempt was frustrating with numerous, niggling mechanical problems – each driver suffering a fan belt failure in succession. It was Rob Halls experience and quick thinking that kept the car in the race at all though when the contact points literally fell apart precisely as the car was about to pass the pit lane entrance.

Rob intuitively steered the now coasting Jag into the pit lane and quite literally saved the day. Once repaired the car was out again and continued to the finish, albeit in a lowly 80th position.

Keeping the same driver line for the 2012 assault, the Cannock based team are looking for a stronger result in this demanding race.
