Father and son duo, Chris and Anthony Scragg, once again claimed victory in their Vantage GT4 at the second round of the Aston Martin British GT4 Challenge at Silverstone on Saturday May 22.

Meanwhile, after qualifying sixth on the grid, Vantage GT4 debutant, Rowan Atkinson held a respectable seventh place for the duration of his 40 minute stint on only his second time driving the GT4 car. Unfortunately, shortly after swapping over to racing partner and Aston Martin chairman, David Richards, the car was forced back to the pits a gearbox issue. The team got the car back out for Richards to complete the last few laps of the race, but due to the amount of time it had been in the pits, it was not able to be classified in the final standings.

After the race Rowan Atkinson said: “I thoroughly enjoyed the event and the GT4 is a great car. I have only just started to get used to how well it grips and how quickly it stops. I would certainly consider competing in it again.”

Finishing in second place, just 24 seconds behind, was another father and son team, James and David Appleby, who worked their way up from fourth on the grid. Close behind in third place were Tom Black and Alan Bonner, who finished with only 10.5 seconds separating them and the Applebys.

After qualifying in pole position on the 13 car grid, Anthony Scragg briefly lost first place to Bernard Santal at the beginning of the race but soon regained the lead which he and his father held for the remainder of the 90 minute race. Anthony Scragg also set the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1.03.071 (93.55 mph).

The third instalment of the Aston Martin British GT4 Challenge takes place at Spa Francorchamps on June 5/6.
